Angad Bisht Won The Round One Of The Road To UFC To Qualify For Semi-Finals
Angad Bisht becomes the first Indian fighter among the three selected for the Road to UFC season 3 happening in Shanghai, China, to register a victory in round one of the event. Before Angad Bisht fought two Indian female fighters, Priya Sharma and Kiran Singh, who fought at the Octagon but failed to win the fights. All hopes of the Indian MMA community were on flyweight fighter Angad Bisht, who was to fight Philippines fighter John Dave Almanza in Episode 3 of the event. As soon as Angad Bisht heard the bell of round number 1 of the fight, he moved forward cautiously and rocked the opponent with a lethal overhand. Then he took the opponent on the mat, where he got control over the fight.
He molded his opponent to make changes in position and went on to lock him in a crucifix. He threw some deadly elbows from the top to inflict heavy damage, which was enough for the referee to intervene and call a stop to the fight. Angad Bisht’s hand got raised, and he moved to the semi-finals of the event, which is likely to happen in August 2024.
Angad Bisht will face South Korean fighter Donghun Choi in the next round later this year. The South Korean fighter has yet to be defeated in an MMA fight, and it will be interesting to see what strategy Angad uses in the Octagon this time. Indian born Kiru Singh Sahota who sparked controversy, on the other hand, will face Ruel Panales in the next round. The fighter from the Philippines was promoted to the next round when his opponent, Toki Matsui, missed weight in round one of the event. Angad Bisht is now carrying the hopes of millions of Indian fans, and in the latter half of 2024, he will be seen against new opponent to take his journey forward.
