Conor McGregor Confirms His Return In Summer, Will Fight Michael Chandler
Conor McGregor recently shared a big update on his potential return to the Octagon this year. “The Notorious” could be seen in the Octagon this summer fighting against Michael Chandler, whom he expected to fight last year as the two were the coaches in “The Ultimate Fighter” season 31 and as the tradition follows after the end of the season the coaches of the two teams fight at last. However, the much-anticipated fight didn’t happen due to various reasons and one of them was Conor McGregor’s reluctance to enter the USADA testing pool.
In his recent interview with ESPN MMA, where Conor McGregor was promoting his movie “Road House” which is going to be released on Amazon Prime on 21st March, he told the host that he talked to the UFC about his return, and they confirmed it by saying “It’s all systems go.”
Yeah, we got confirmation a few days ago that it’s all systems go and the Notorious will be returning in the UFC octagon this summer.”
Conor Said
When asked whom he would fight if he returned to the Octagon, “The Notorious” replied that it would be Michael Chandler whom he would fight as the lightweight contender talks a lot and he wants to bust him.
‘Yes, Michael Chandler. I got to fu***ng shut off Michael, you fu***ng im***ile. The man doesn’t shut up. I seen him on ‘Raw.’ I like Mike. I’m going to bust him up. I’m going to bust Mike up.”
Conor McGregor added
So far, there has been no official confirmation from the UFC about the fight between Conor and Chandler, but Conor is vocal about his return this summer.
Why Is Conor McGregor Out Of the Octagon For So Long?
Conor McGregor, while fighting Dustin Poirier in their trilogy lightweight bout back in 2021, broke his leg in one of the most gruesome injuries ever seen in the UFC. Since then, he remained out of the action, but in 2023, he was seen back in the UFC as a coach in the “TUF” season 31 and started training for his return to the Octagon. Though his fight didn’t come to fruition in 2023, he has clarified that it will happen this year.
