Khamzat Chimaev (12-0) is one of the budding stars of the UFC, and at UFC 294 he is going to fight with the former welterweight champion Kumaru Usman in the co-main event in Abu Dhabi, UAE. Khamzat Chimaev has signed a new long-term contract with the UFC, though the details of the contract haven’t been disclosed. It is ensured that “The Borz” will be seen in the octagon for a long time. Khamzat Chimaev’s manager, Majdi Shammas, told ESPN about the deal Chimaev signed. Khamzat has two fights left from his previous contract, and as he signs a new one, he will entertain the fans more in the octagon events.
UFC president Dana White has already announced that the Saturday fight will be the number one contender fight, and the champion will be given a chance to fight the recently crowned middleweight champion Sean Strickland in his next fight. Sean Strickland beat former middleweight champion Israel Adesanya at UFC 293 to win his first title in the UFC. Khamzat, however, is undefeated so far in his MMA career, and it would be interesting to see whether he would be able to continue his unbeaten run in the coming fight against Kumaru Usman at UFC 294. Kumaru Usman has lost his last two fights against Leon Edwards.
The UFC 294 main event features Islam Makhachev and Alexander Volkanovski for the lightweight title. Less than two weeks before the fight, Charles Oliveira got replaced by Volkanovski as the former got injured while training. Surprisingly, Khamzat was scheduled to fight Paulo Costa, but the Brazilian fighter got a nasty elbow injury, which forced him to step back from the fight. Usman took the fight against the Borz on short notice.
