“I want to go down one more time,” Alex Pereira Teases His Return To The Middleweight
UFC light-heavyweight champion Alex Pereira is scheduled to face Khalil Rountree Jr. at UFC 307, but “Poatan,” besides focusing on his upcoming bout, is looking to get back to the middleweight division once more to fight the reigning middleweight champion Dricus du Plessis. Just the moment after DDP retained his title at UFC 305 after defeating Israel Adesanya, “Poatan” teased his comeback to the division to fight for the title. This Monday night, he reiterated what he had said after UFC 305 and is ready to come down to get another gold medal at UFC to become a simultaneous two-division champion.
“I’m focused on my next fight and I’m going prepared but you never know what can happen. So regardless of the result, I want to go down one more time to the middleweight and go for the belt. Hey Dricus, bring your will to fight me so you can prove that you are better than me, with your public statement it is easy to make this happen. Chama.”

Middleweight champion Dricus du Plessis welcomed the proposition of fighting Alex Pereira, but he doesn’t want “Poatan” to come down to middleweight; instead, he will move up in the weight class to fight Alex Pereira at light-heavyweight. The super fight between these two champions is not official yet, but MMA fans expect it to happen. “Stillknocks” will defend his title once more, and his opponent will be former middleweight champion Sean Strickland, whom he defeated at UFC 297 to earn the gold. The fight was close, and a rematch was the only option to end the debate about who was best in the division.
