Brands Who Break Their Ties With Conor McGregor After S** Assault Verdict

Conor McGregor has been hurt financially after the Sexual Assault case verdict.

Former UFC champion Conor McGregor is making headlines for negative reasons as the fighter was found liable of sexual assault by the jury last week in Dublin. The Irish MMA fighter was accused by Nikita Hand of Sexual Assault in 2018. Since then, the proceedings have been going on, and with the verdict coming in favor of the complainant, Conor McGregor is facing the heat of the public and MMA fans. The court decided to make the fighter pay for the damages and fined him €250,000 as it was a civil case, not a criminal one; the Irish fighter didn’t get jail.

Though Conor McGregor in his defense reiterated his words, that all the events happened that night was consensual and there was no forcing but the court ruled otherwise. The verdict tarnished the public image of the MMA star and the decision’s after effects are hurting McGregor financially as multiple brands announced their disassociation from Conor. So, far two brands spoke in public about breaking their ties with the Irish fighter.

Brands Cut Ties With Conor McGregor

The popular Irish Whiskey brand Proper No. 12 was the first brand who broke its ties with Conor McGregor. Proper No. 12 was found in 2018 and was a success among alcoholic brands. McGregor’s marketing tactics and star power made the brand popular among UFC fans. In 2021 McGregor sold his entire stake bur remained the face of the brand. Proximo Spirits since 2021 holds the 100% share of the whiskey brand and after the verdict it announced the disassociation from McGregor’s name.

“Going forward, we do not plan to use Mr. McGregor’s name and likeness in the marketing of the brand.”

The video game developer IO Interactive also announced that they will no longer use McGregor’s character in their game “Hitman”

“In light of the recent court ruling regarding Conor McGregor. We take this matter very seriously and cannot ignore its implications. Consequently, we will begin removing all content featuring Mr. McGregor from our storefronts starting today.”
