UFC reigning Welterweight champion Belal Muhammad is one of those fighters who doesn’t get much love from combat sports supporters as MMA fans believe that his fighting style isn’t exciting and explosive, but that is not what the former BMF champ Jorge Masvidal thinks as according to the veteran knock out artist, the Welterweight champ isn’t only improving his game fight after fight but also putting dominant performances over his opponents.

In his recent appearance on the JAXXON podcast, “Gamebred” revealed that when he first saw Belal Muhammad, he thought the fighter could reach the top 15 or 10, but his meteoric rise in the UFC is magnificent.

“I’ve seen Belal since his first fight. I was there live-in, I think it was in Chicago, right before he got signed to the UFC. I remember looking at him [and] going like, ‘Ah, not a bad guy’. Maybe one day he’ll be like top 10 or 15 guy,”

Masvidal said

“I see him again, I was like, ‘Oh, this improved a lot’. Beaten a lot of guys and then he had a couple of losses and I was like, ‘Man, I don’t know if you come back from those.’ [But] Bro, did he f—ing come back and evolve? Like, man, what a 180 f—ing switch.”

He further added

Belal Muhammad defeated Leon Edwards at UFC 304 to snatch the Welterweight gold, but he has yet to defend his title once. He was scheduled to defend it at UFC 310 against the undefeated Kazakh fighter Shavkat Rakhmonov, but an injury forced him to pull out. Shavkat Rakhmonov fought Ian Garry in the co-main event and went full distance to win the bout via unanimous decision.

UFC is yet to announce when Belal will defend his title against “Nomad.”
