With the last fight event of the UFC around the corner, headlined by former interim Welterweight champ Colby Covington and rising contender Joaquin Buckley, many are sharing their opinions on the match-ups, and former UFC Welterweight title challenger Gilbert Burns is the latest on that list. Joaquin Buckley is on a 5 fight-win streak and is the favorite to win the upcoming fight. On the other hand, “Chaos,” in his last five fights, had a record of 2-3 and will enter as the underdog. Revealing the skillset of both fighters, “Durinho” shared his take on who has a better chance of dominating it. While speaking to Submission Radio, Gilbert Burns said this.

“I think Buckley’s in the best momentum right now but [wrestling], that’s Buckley’s kryptonite – one of my favorite teammates is Logan Storley, interim Bellator champ, he fought Buckley and Logan just out-wrestled him. He just took him down, beat him up on the ground, took him down again, beat him up with ground-and-pound – and that’s something that Colby can really do.”

Gilbert Burns has had a good relationship with the trainers at MMA Masters, where Colby trains. According to him, apart from all the trash talk Colby does, very few have the discipline to match the work ethics of the “Chaos.” Praising Colby Covington, he said this.

Colby’s always in training, I know those guys from MMA Masters, they say that he’s always in the gym, always training and always in shape… I think Colby might give a lot of problems to Buckley, keep taking him down with that crazy pace.

UFC Tampa will decide whether Colby Covington will get another run at the title or a new potential challenger will replace him. The last fight event of 2024 is scheduled for 14 December 2024.
