Since his inception into the Dana White-led MMA promotion, Ilia Topuria crushed all odds that came between him and the featherweight title. At UFC 298, “El Matador,” against all odds, defeated the featherweight kingpin Alexander Volkanovski by knocking the “Great” in the second round of the bout. Since then, the Spaniard has called out Conor McGregor and lightweight champ Islam Makhachev. However, UFC has booked him with former champ Max Holloway, who raised his stakes with his impressive knockout victory over Justin Gaethje at UFC 300. The “Hawaiin” knocked out Justin Gaethje with 2 seconds remaining in the fight, making everybody jump out of their seats.

Max Holloway is one of the toughest fighters on the UFC roster and has never been knocked out in his professional career, but Ilia Topuria is confident that he will become the first to do that to Max Holloway when they fight at UFC 308. In the recent interview he reiterates the same.

I don’t have any doubts that I will be the first one to knock you out. I don’t even want you to trust in that because if you’re starting to trust in what I’m saying, you’re not going to show up, and I need you to show up in the fight. The only thing I’m going to do is take your lights out and party with all my people, all my team. That’s what I’m going to do – ‘And Still’. This is what’s going to happen.”

After hearing those words, Max Holloway fired back by warning the reigning champ about what he would do with him once the cage was closed.

“No one’s gonna save you too buddy… actually, the referee is gonna save you buddy. The ref is in there to save you.”
