UFC reigning Bantamweight champion, Merab Dvalishvili, has almost cleaned the division by winning his last fight against the then-undefeated Umar Nurmagomedov, to whom he handed his first professional defeat at UFC 311. “The Machine” showed the MMA fans why he called himself Machine as his unending cardio was too much for a fighter like Umar Nurmagomedov to take, who, prior to the fight, named “Young Eagle” and favorite to win the bout but the Georgian fighter proved his doubters wrong displayed his prowess and fight IQ in the cage to win a unanimous decision against the Russian fighter.

Before his first title defense, Merab Dvalishvili defeated former champ Sean O’Malley at UFC Noche to get his hands to the Bantamweight gold, and then, in his first title defense, he proved he was worthy of the Bantamweight crown. The journey to reach the Bantamweight gold wasn’t easy for the Georgian as he fought former champs like Henry Cejudo, Petr Yan, etc., to get a shot at the title, and then his UFC 311 win certainly brought him to the list of Bantamweight GOATs. Now, after almost cleaning the top competitions in the Bantamweight division, Merab doesn’t have much to prove, but UFC will likely want the Machine to defend his title one more time.

According to the reports, UFC CEO Dana White is looking to get a rematch between Merab and former champ Sean O’Malley. “Suga” is recovering from his hip injury, which he suffered during his title defense at UFC Noc, whereas Merab is ready to take on anyone in the Bantamweight division. If UFC books a rematch, then “Suga” can prove his statements that he should be declared the winner at UFC Noche right by defeating Merab in the rematch in 2025.
