“I don’t think Ilia is that big for 145,” Michael Chandler Calls Ilia Topuria A “Liar”!

UFC’s most stacked division, the Lightweight division, has become a puzzle since Ilia Topuria announced moving up to 155 lbs. Now, who will get the next shot at the lightweight title is a mystery. Charles Oliveira, Justin Gaethje, and number-one contender Arman Tsarukyan are all in the line to get a title shot. In fact, Arman had the chance, but the fighter messed it up by pulling out of the fight one day before getting in the cage with the reigning lightweight champion Islam Makhachev.

Ilia Topuria, who has vacated the featherweight title to move up, has claimed that he was testing his body too much to make 145lbs, and his team constantly said that Ilia Topuria carries a natural weight of 190lbs, but Michael Chandler thinks that his team is lying about Ilia’s weight.

I think he’s lying about the weight a little bit. I don’t think he weighs 190 pounds. I’ve seen the man, I’ve stood next to the man, we’ve had conversations. With that being said, yeah, I think it would be cool for him to come in and fight somebody inside the top five to get the title shot,”

If the fight between Ilia Topuria and Islam Makhachev ever happens in the future, Michael Chandler has a pick, and it is the reigning champion Islam Makhachev. According to the “Iron,” there is a clear power difference between 145 lbs and 155 lbs, and if Islam Makhachev gets past 15 minutes into the fight, then he will surely win against Topuria.

“I didn’t think he was gonna knock Max Holloway out, and he did. So, I think he could catch Islam, but if that fight goes anything past 15 minutes, I think Islam beats him handily, just because Islam is a large, large 155, and I don’t think Ilia is that big for 145,”
