Former UFC middleweight champion Robert Whittaker will fight Khamzat Chimaev at the UFC 308. The two were supposed to fight in June 2024, but Khamzat Chimaev pulled out from the fight one week before due to health issues, due to which UFC booked Whittaker against Ikram Aliskerov, whom Robert Whittaker knocked out in the first round of the bout. The rebooking of this fight is needed to ensure who will be getting in line on the title contenders’ list. Khamzat Chimaev, whose last fight against Kamaru Usman earned him a unanimous decision victory, remained undefeated in his professional career with a record of (13-0) but Robert Whittaker believes that he can take Chimaev’s zero.

In the UFC 308 countdown “The Reaper” looked confident and claimed he is a better striker and faster than Chimaev.

“If I give him half a chance, he’ll kill me, but I take confidence because of how well-rounded I am. I’m exceptional at it all. I’m faster, I’m a better striker and I have better instincts. I’m a hard guy to take down. I am confident that my skills are better than his.”

Robert Whittaker said

“The Reaper” isn’t scared of Borz’s wrestling skills, as he is prepared for that aspect. According him, one skill can’t win you fight as, he has counters in his arsenal, which he will use against Chimaev.

This isn’t a wrestling match. This is an MMA fight. I’m going to look to stuff his takedowns and I’m going to beat him up… The fight with Chimaev is going to take all my focus and all my willpower and I’m going to get in there and I’m going to rip him.”

He added

Who will get the better of whom will be decided on Saturday this weekend at UFC 308.
