Shavkat Rakhmonov Isn’t Concerned About Conor McGregor’s Return At 170lbs

UFC Welterweight contender Shavkat Rakhmonov is in the line of getting a title shot next, but when the UFC does not confirm it. There’s a slight hindrance in the way of getting a title shot, which is the return of Conor McGregor. Though the UFC does not confirm the return, but if he does make his return, then there is a possibility that the former two-division star will get a shot at the UFC Welterweight title after winning the much-awaited fight against Michael Chandler, but that doesn’t concern Shavkat Rakhmonov as the Kazakhstan fighter believes that UFC won’t do such thing for the fighters that are already in the line to sell more PPVs.

While giving an interview to MMA Fighting, Shavkat Rakhmonov shared his take on Conor McGregor’s return to 170lbs and whether he is worried about McGregor getting a title shot before him. Being honest Shavkat replied that the hypothetical scenario doesn’t concern him much and he showed confidence on UFC not doing an injustice for the fighters in the line even if the fairytale return of Conor McGregor happens and he ends up winning the bout against Michael Chandler. In fact, he didn’t even think that Conor would ever return to the Octagon.

“I don’t even think about when Conor [McGregor is] gonna fight, when he’s gonna be ready, I don’t think about all that….In my head, I don’t even think about him winning this one fight in three years [is] gonna do something. I understand he’s a big star, but in my head I don’t see it being possible…I believe [the] UFC is the best and most fair organization, so I believe they’re going to do everything right.”

Reigning champion Belal Muhammad and contender Shavkat Rakhmonov went back and forth a few days back. Beal Muhammad shared his opinions on the next potential contender, calling Shavkat Rakhmonov an inactive fighter. He wanted a fight between Shavkat Rakhmonov and Kamaru Usman, and the winner would get a title shot. He even revealed that the UFC is pushing him to fight Rakhmonov next, and a fight is expected.
