“Sign the contract” Tom Aspinall Wants Jon Jones To Accept The Fight Against Him After Pereira’s Loss At UFC 313

At UFC 313, Alex Pereira lost to the then-challenger and now the new light heavyweight champion of the UFC, Magomed Ankalaev. After defending his light heavyweight title three times, Alex Pereira lost it in his 4th. With the loss, the dreams of MMA fans to see a super fight between Alex Pereira and Jon Jones also got crushed, as many expected after the 4th title defense. Alex Pereira would move up to fight Jon Jones, who was interested in getting this exciting match-up done and talked about this insane fight before UFC 309 title defense against Stipe Miocic.

Alex Pereira after the loss immediately asked for a rematch and Magomed Ankalaev nodded in “Yes”. Now, the much awaited heavyweight title unification bout between the reigning champ Jon Jones and interim heavyweight champ, Tom Aspinall that was in limbo for than a year is must be on the mind of the UFC. Jon Jones is avoiding the fight as according to the reigning champ the fight won’t add value to his stacked resume but the Brit is confident that a date will be announced soon by the UFC regarding the unification bout.

Speaking on the same, Tom Aspinall explained that the super fight between Jon Jones and Alex Pereira is off and the reigning heavyweight champ has to accept the bout or left the title.

That’s off the table now for Alex Pereira to fight at heavyweight or any other weight, really. There is only one way, there’s only one thing to do, mate. Sign the contract and let’s get our date set. I know we saw last night that Dana White was talking. Everything is now done on Jon’s side, and the UFC just has to find a date and venue, so we’re waiting for that. We’ve got some good news coming soon.”
