“When do you want to train?” Umar’s Coach On Merab Dvalishvili’s UFC PI Incident

As the UFC 311 approaches closer, the controversy between the co-main event fighters Merab Dvalishvili and Umar Nurmagomedov gets more intense. In a recent incident, Bantamweight champ Merab Dvalishvili revealed that he was denied entry to the UFC PI institute for training as Umar Nurmagomedov was training at that time. That didn’t go well with the champ, and by updating his fans on his social media, he assured everyone that before UFC 311, he would not fight Umar.

Both fighters exchanged heated words during a UFC 311 press conference a few weeks earlier, where the champ constantly said that the contender had lost respect in his eyes by disrespecting his country. Following the press conference, during the UFC 310 event, “The Machine” got in a scuffle with an MMA fan whom Dvalishvili accused of being sent by Umar’s team.

With the ongoing controversy, the coach of “Young Eagle” shared his views on the UFC PI incident and questioned the champ’s intentions.

“We’re there from X amount of time until X amount of time. So why can’t he go there at another time? When did he ask to go there versus when we were given permission to go there? My question I want to ask, ‘Did you just want to come recently or was it before, when we decided we were going to train there?’ I don’t know.”

Javier Mendez said

If we’re already told we are training from this time to that time… And then you come in and say, ‘I want to train.’ Okay, when do you want to train? Umar and Islam are training at that time. How can you get upset at that? I don’t know… That’s on the UFC, not on us.”

He added

The co-main event surrounding all the controversies is getting attention, and fans are excited to watch who will shut whose mouth at UFC 311 in January 2025.
