What Next For Francis Ngannou After A Great 2023 Year?
Francis Ngannou is one of the prime examples of courage, fearlessness, and determination. There’s no denying the fact that he played the biggest gamble of his entire life by ending the contract with the world’s biggest MMA promotion, the UFC, where experts doubted him and his potential to do something amazing out of the UFC, but as the quote says, “Where there is a will, there is a way.” After ending his contract with the UFC, he started negotiating a contract with the PFL (Professional Fighter League) and ended up getting one that was ideal for him because he was free to box besides fighting in the cage.
Francis Ngannou’s debut in boxing was nothing except a fairytale where he caught the biggest fish of the pond in his first throw. He boxed with the reigning heavyweight champion, Tyson Fury, in October 2023. Francis’ debut fight as an underdog on fight day shocked everyone by dropping the champion in the third round of the fight by a hefty left hook. Though the fight ended in Tyson Fury’s favor, who won by a split decision, Francis Ngannou proved to everyone that he is a legit boxer as well.
The 37-year-old fighter hasn’t stopped yet, and after dominating every fighter in the UFC, he will be seen in the cage again, this time under a different promotion. Though the chances of him fighting in a boxing match are high after his impressive performance in his debut fight, boxers like Joseph Parker have also called out him for a boxing match, but it remains to be seen whether it will happen or not. For the time being, Francis Ngannou hasn’t clarified his plans for the year 2024 yet, but there is a possibility that he will fight in the cage under PFL at the end of this year.
