England’s ace bowler and regular appearance on the test side, Stuart Broad, announced his retirement from international cricket. The 37-year-old cricketer is playing his last international match against Australia, and after the fifth Ashes 2023 test, he will not be seen representing England in international cricket. In his 17-year international career, he has been remembered for several reasons, and one of the most popular is when he was hit for six sixes in an over by Yuvraj Singh in a 2007 T20 World Cup match. He became the first bowler to be hit for six sixes in a T20I match.

Stuart Broad didn’t shy away from discussing the phase of his life when he was hit for six sixes and openly discussed how he built his mental strength after that and did a comeback in the team. He is one of the finest England bowlers and one of the few international bowlers who has more than 600 wickets in his pocket in the longest format of test cricket. He went on to share how Ben Stokes made the comeback after a poor performance in the 2016 Cricket World Cup when, in the final over of the T20 World Cup 2016, he was hit for four sixes by Carlos Braithwaite to steal the victory.

Yeah, it was obviously a pretty tough day, what would I have been, 21, 22? I learnt a lot, I pretty much based a whole mental routine through that experience, knowing that I was left very short as an international performer. I’d rushed my preparation, I didn’t have any pre-ball routine, I didn’t have any focus,”

“You go through massive peaks and troughs, and when you look at someone like Stokesy’s (Ben Stokes) career, he’s done that sort of thing as well. Ultimately, it’s the bouncebackability, and that ability to be able to put poor days behind you. Certainly one thing I know over past 15 or 16 years, is that you will have more bad days than good days in cricket, so you have to deal with them to make sure your good days can flourish,”
