Lionel Messi is ruling America now because he once again showed the class of king in the match against FC Dallas after scoring twice for the team as Inter Miami defeated FC Dallas in Penalties.

Lionel Messi was the hero for Inter Miami once again, as he scored a spectacular free kick in the dying minutes to salvage a 4-4 draw against FC Dallas in the Leagues Cup quarter-finals.

The Argentine superstar, who joined Miami from Paris Saint-Germain in July, had opened the scoring in the 6thth minute. FC Dallas did not back out, as they kept attacking, and in the 37th minute, Facundo Quignon scored the goal to help his team to get their 1st goal of the match to equalize the score to 1-1.

Soon after that, FC Dallas scored another goal in the 45th minute when Bernard Kamungo scored the 2nd goal for his team to lead the scoreline by 2-1 against Miami. After half-time, Dallas scored another goal to lead the match by 2 goal difference, but soon, in the 65th minute, the young substitute Benjamin Cremaschi scored the second goal for Inter Miami to keep them alive in the match. The goal came from an amazing buildup from Messi and Jordi Alba’s play.

In the 68th minute, Robert Taylor scored a heartbreaking own goal when he tried to intercept the ball in Miami’s penalty area. In the 80th minute, Miami got a free kick opportunity which Messi took as he tried to cruel the ball. The defender of Dallas headed the goal into his net to give Inter Miami more hope.

But Messi had other ideas and stepped up to take a free kick from 25 yards out in the 85th minute. He curled it over the wall and into the top corner, leaving Jimmy Maurer helpless. It was his third free-kick goal in four games for Inter Miami and his fifth overall.

The final whistle blew soon after, and the game went to a penalty shootout. Inter Miami prevailed 5-4, with Messi scoring the decisive spot-kick. He was mobbed by his teammates and fans, who had witnessed a historic soccer night in Texas.
