Fulham shocked Tottenham Spurs with a penalty shootout win

Fulham won against Hotspur in Penalty

Fulham FC pulled off a remarkable upset in the Carabao Cup as they beat Tottenham on penalties after a 1-1 draw at Craven Cottage. The hosts took the lead in the first half when Micky van de Ven turned the ball into his own net from a corner. Fulham were the better team for most of the game and had several chances to extend their lead, but Fraser Forster denied them in the Spurs goal.

Tottenham equalized in the second half when Richarlison scored his first goal of the season with a header from a cross by Kenny Tete. The Brazilian striker had been struggling for form and confidence, but he took his chance well.

The game went to penalties, and Fulham held their nerve as they scored all five of their spot-kicks. Tete, who had to change his boot in the first half, scored the winning penalty to send Fulham through to the third round, but it was an amazing night for the Fulham side as they went through to 3 round of the EFL to wait for their next opponent in the next round.

It was a disappointing night for Tottenham, who failed to impress with a much-changed line-up. Ange Postecoglou made ten changes from the team that beat Bournemouth on Saturday, but he could not find the right balance or spark. Fulham, on the other hand, showed great spirit and quality under their manager, Marco Silva, who watched from the stands after receiving three yellow cards in the first three Premier League games. Fulham is unbeaten in the league and has now knocked out one of the favorites for the Carabao Cup.

Ange Pstecoglou started off quite well in the Premier League but failed to convert that form in the EFL Cup. Hotspur also made 12 changes to their team compared to the team they played with against Bourthment in the Premier League.
