Chelsea FC once again went all out in the summer window to solve their problems with money as they tried it last summer but failed quite badly compared to the last decade, and now it’s all on Mauricio Pochettino, the new manager of the club. They finished 12th in the Premier League, which is their worst-ever finish since the 1990s.
It clearly shows that the club is going through a lot as their former owner, the powerful Russian Abramovich, left the club in Todd Boehly’s hands, which did not turn out quite well for the club and even after spending a record-breaking 1bn euros in the transfer market, Chelsea still not considered as the settled club which is a major concern for the fans and also for the players.
Last season, the Chelsea football club changed 4 managers, which is another record for any club in the world. The club signed so many players last season, which made club management work hard to pay the wage bills of players, so in the summer, they just sold and released around 24 players, including a few big names who came into the club with a big value on their head including Kai Havertz, Christian Pulisic, Kalidou Koulibaly, and Edouard Mendy.
Chelsea spent £450m in the summer signing and is still not able to pick their solid 11 players. One of the biggest names they signed is Moises Caicedo from Brighton & Hove Albion for about £115million, which is a record-breaking most expensive signing in the Premier League ever. They also signed Christopher Nkunku from RB Leipzig for about £52million and another surprising signing of Man City young player Cole Palmer for about £40million, plus £2.5million in add-ons, which is a huge fee for a player who started only three matches for Manchester City.
It is going to be quite a task for a new manager, Pochettino, to turn the table for the Chelsea club in the 2023/2024 season as they have only one target to achieve, which is to win the Premier League as they are not going to feature in any European competition which going to give the player a lot of time to rest.
