The Football Association (FA) is reportedly eyeing Pep Guardiola as a potential successor to Gareth Southgate if the current England manager decides to step down after Euro 2024.
The Football Association (FA) has a big ambition to appoint Pep Guardiola as the England boss. The move for the Spanish coach would likely happen only after the 2024 UEFA Euros. It is widely anticipated that Gareth Southgate, the present England Football Men’s team manager, will leave the team following the tournament in Germany.
According to sources from The Mirror and Mail Sport, FA officials are already working on a shortlist of names for the managerial role. Topping this wish list of managers is Guardiola. The Manchester City boss is regarded as one of the best coaches in the world and has achieved success wherever he has been. During his tenure with City, the Spaniard has amassed an impressive 13 major trophies in just seven years at the helm.
While Guardiola has won almost every club trophy during his stints with City, Bayern Munich, and Barcelona, he has never managed a national team. Nonetheless, the Spaniard has previously hinted that he would someday take up a job with a top national side. His current contract with the reigning Premier League champions ends in the summer of 2025.
Recently, Pep won a treble with Manchester City and his first UEFA Champions League with Manchester City, but since his arrival, he has been dominating the Premier League since he arrived and won the league title 5 times, which is one of the best records by any manager in last one decade. He is surely the best modern-day football coach, which every coach approved because wherever he went, he won the trophies and dominated that league. He also won the treble with Barcelona in the 2008-2009 season.
“A national team is the next step,” “I have to take a break after seven years. I need to stop, see, learn from other coaches, and maybe take that path.”
“I would like to train for a European Championship, a Copa America, a World Cup.
Pep Guardiola said in the interview
