Manchester City announced great news for the fans after posting a video of Kyle Walker announcing his new contract with Manchester City, which will be valid till 2026.
Kyle Walker is a right back of Man City, and in 2017, he joined the team from Tottenham Hotspur for about €52.70m, which was a huge amount at that time for a right back. He is still the fastest player in the Premier League, and because of his amazing speed, Pep wanted him in the team, but he also has amazing defending skills, which makes him one of the best Right back in the world.
Walker started his journey with Sheffield United U18, and in 2010, Tottenham signed him for about €5.90m. However, Tottenham loaned him to Sheffield United, and in the next season, they loaned him to Queens Park Rangers. The loaning scenario kept going on till 2011, and from then, he played for the senior team of Tottenham Hotspur. He played 227 matches for them, scoring four times and giving 20 assists, which impressed Pep Guardiola to sign him in the 2017 season for a hefty amount.
Walker has now played 260 matches for Manchester City, scoring six goals and giving 18 assists. He is still one of the most hardworking players on the pitch for Manchester City and also one of the fan’s favorite because of his amazing humor and fight-back attitude.
Manchester City posted a video of Walker telling their teammates that he is not leaving and staying in Manchester City while Bayern Munich was trying to sign him in the summer, which is now impossible as he signed a new contract that will expire at the end of 2026.
After signing the contract, he gave a statement about his decision not to go away from the club and why he decided to stay in the club even after winning a treble with the club.
“I’m absolutely delighted for me, my family, for everyone that’s put in the hard work to get me here. And to represent this fantastic club definitely for another two more seasons, hopefully many more, it’s a real honour,” Walker told City’s official media. “I think that in this team there’s something special.
Obviously, just coming back after an amazing high of last season in winning the Treble and finally getting the Champions League, which is the one trophy that we didn’t have as a as a group and as collectively, I wanted to go and do it again. The lads have got that hunger again to go and achieve something really special again this season, fingers crossed. So I wanted to be a part of it and I didn’t want to miss out on that.”
