“ICC is a toothless tiger” Ranatunga’s sensational take on ICC and ACC after India vs Pak reserve day match.

The India vs Pakistan match is the only other match except the finale in the Asia Cup 2023 that was allowed to have a reserve day, and the special treatment given to just two teams among six in the Asia Cup 2023 is what former Sri Lanka captain Arjuna Ranatunga failed to understand, as according to him, the same reserve day treatment should be allowed to other teams as well, not just India and Pakistan. 1996 World Cup-winning captain Arjuna Ranatunga didn’t mince his words and lambasted both the ACC and ICC for allowing the reserve day. He called the ICC “a toothless tiger” and unprofessional in its conduct.

He didn’t even spare former cricketers and criticized them for not questioning the change in the rules for just a single match. In a sarcastic manner, he also pointed towards the BCCI, which is undoubtedly the most influential and rich cricket board in the ICC, for using its upper hand on the ICC and convincing them to change the rules.

ICC is a toothless tiger. They act very unprofessionally. I think they are the ones who should protect cricket. Ultimately cricket should be controlled by ICC and not by a country. In Asia Cup, you had rules and you changed rules for one game. So where is ACC? Where is ICC?,”

“Why do the other countries allow that (poor scheduling) to happen? Because the BCCI is powerful, or one particular person is powerful. No, it can’t happen like that. They should have given an extra day for all the games if that was the case”

Continuing his rant towards the ICC, he said that he will not be surprised now if the same reserve day thing happens in the upcoming ICC CWC 2023 India vs. Pakistan match, which is without any doubt going to be the biggest match in terms of the audience turnout, and slammed official members of the organizations for their inaction.

I feel very sad for ICC and ACC because they just want to hold the positions. Former cricketers too don’t open, simply because they need the bucks,

He added

India and Pakistan are going to clash in ICC CWC 2023 on October 14th.
