Manchester United star Marcus Rashford has confirmed he is fine after being in a car accident on Saturday night. The 24-year-old forward was driving his Rolls Royce back from the club’s Carrington training ground when he collided with another vehicle near the M60 motorway.
The accident happened shortly after Man United had beaten Burnley 1-0 at Turf Moor, with Bruno Fernandes scoring the only goal for the visitors. The England international was not injured in the crash, nor was the other car’s driver, a 74-year-old grandmother who did not recognize the famous footballer.
Rashford took to Instagram on Sunday morning to reassure his fans that he was alright and to thank them for their messages of support. He wrote: “I’m alright, guys thanks for the messages. Three points on the road!”
According to reports, Rashford’s Rolls Royce suffered significant damage on the front and side, while the other car, a Toyota Yaris, also had a smashed bumper and bonnet. Police and paramedics attended the scene, but no one required hospital treatment.
Rashford is expected to be fit for United’s next game, a Champions League clash against Villarreal on Wednesday. The Red Devils are currently second in Group F, one point behind the Spanish side.
The win against Burnley ended Man United’s losing streak as they lost their last three matches before their win against Burnley. Fan’s banter may be one of the reasons why Rashford had an accident because he might be disturbed mentally.
The match between Burnley and Manchester United was a tight game, but it was an amazing volley kick by the captain Bruno Fernandes in the 45th minute of the match that set the two teams apart. The old lad of Man United, Jonny Evans, gave the assist, who sent an amazing diagonal lofted pass to the Portugal international. Rashford played the whole 90 minutes but only had 45 touches in the game and also created just two key chances, which made fans mad, and they started saying that he should be benched for the next game.
