As the Asian Games 2023 men’s cricket events started, India faced Nepal in the quarterfinals. The second string of the Indian team has been sent to represent Indian men’s cricket in the Asian Games. Nepal, who were pumped up after their performance against Mongolia and the Maldives, faced a spirited Indian team in the quarterfinals. India’s batter Yashasvi Jaiswal’s century helped India put on a formidable score of 202 runs on the board. Nepal was impressive while chasing the target and was on the right track to upset the Indian team, but Indian bowlers picked up wickets at regular intervals to stop Nepal at 179 runs.

Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad opened the innings for the team after choosing to bat first and provided the start India wanted, with Yashavsi Jaiswal throwing the ball out of the park whenever he got the opportunity and Ruturaj Gaikwad on the other end supporting the left-handed batter. Nepal’s bowlers gave some blows to lower the scoring run rate of India, but Yashasvi didn’t let that happen and explosively continued his innings to score his maiden T20I century. He scored his maiden T20I century in just 48 deliveries, becoming the youngest Indian to score a T20I century.

Rinku Singh, who made his name as a great finisher, did the work according to his name by scoring 22 runs in the final over of the innings to take India past 200 runs, which was once looking far to reach. Indian bowlers Ravi Bishnoi and Avesh Khan took 3 wickets each, and debutant Ravisrinivasan Sai Kishore took 1 wicket, stopping Nepal’s contingent at 179 runs. India now moved to the semi-finals, and their eye must have been on the gold medal so that they could make India proud at the Asian Games like the Indian women’s cricket team.
