In a fiery post-match altercation following Arsenal’s 1-0 victory against Manchester City, tensions ran high, and Arsenal defender Ben White was caught on camera mocking City’s Jack Grealish.
The incident occurred after the final whistle when players from both teams engaged in an on-pitch altercation. Among the scuffles, Man City’s Kyle Walker clashed with the Arsenal backroom staff, while players like Erling Haaland and Matheus Nunes were also involved.
A newly surfaced video, shared by AFCannon_1886, captures Ben White laughing off Jack Grealish’s aggressive behavior. White’s laughter appeared to undermine Grealish’s attempts to make his presence felt on the field. Eventually, a member of the Man City staff led Grealish away from the confrontation as Arsenal players celebrated in the background.
Despite Grealish’s involvement in the heated moment, he was an unused substitute for Manchester City, with manager Pep Guardiola opting to bring on summer signing Jeremy Doku in an attempt to change the game.
This isn’t the first time Ben White has been involved in confrontations with Manchester City players. In April, after Arsenal’s 4-1 defeat to City, Sky Sports footage showed White clashing with Phil Foden.
White, who was recently described by Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta as a “fighter,” played the full 90 minutes as Arsenal secured a crucial victory over the treble-winners.
Currently not part of Gareth Southgate’s England squad, White won’t be joining Grealish or Foden as they prepare to face Australia and Italy during the upcoming international break.
At 26 years old, White has become a key figure for Arteta’s side, primarily playing as a right-back, and has played every minute of Arsenal’s Premier League matches this season.
Arsenal currently sits in second place in the Premier League, holding a two-point lead over Manchester City after eight games. Their next challenge will be against Chelsea on October 21st, while Manchester City faces Brighton on the same day.
