Rahmanullah Gurbaz scored a fifty and could have scored a century, but unfortunately he couldn’t as the opener got run out when he was at 80. Ikram Alikhil was another player from Afghanistan’s side who scored fifty as Afghanistan’s innings ended at a score of 284 runs.
England’s start while chasing the target of 285 runs wasn’t something they had planned, as they lost Jonny Bairstow quite early, and then Joe Root followed him. Dawid Malan tried reading the bowlers but got trapped by Mohammad Nabi. Only Harry Brook showed resistance and scored a fifty, but he was dismissed by Mujeeb Ur Rahman to shift the momentum completely to Afghanistan’s side. Rashid Khan hit the final nail in the coffin by dismissing Mark Wood, who won the match by 69 runs.
