Despite dominating possession, Germany struggled to find the back of the net, leaving head coach Horst Hrubesch somewhat disappointed with their offensive performance. This match marked the only time in League A Group 3 that Wales managed a result other than a loss. Throughout the group stage, Wales had conceded 15 goals, including a 5-1 defeat to Germany on October 27th.
