The UEFA Champions League Draw is out, and most football fans are confused about the new format of the UCL, but it’s relatively easy to know as we will simplify the draw here in this article to make the fans understand the format easily.
The manual drawing UCL system is now gone, and the AI will decide each team’s fixtures from now on.
How Does the New Format of the UEFA Champions League Work?
- For the 2024/2025 UEFA Champions League season, 36 teams will participate in the tournament instead of 32, which was the previous format.
- Each team will play eight matches in the Table with all 36 teams.
- Each team will play four home matches and four away matches against eight opponents.
- The top eight teams in the table will qualify directly for the knockout round 16.
- Teams ranked 9th to 24th will play in a two-legged playoff to determine who will advance into the knockout round of 16.
- The remaining four teams will play in the UEFA Europa League.
The remainder of the format from Round 16 will be the same as it was in previous years.
