SKN Patriots vs BR: Barbados Royals climbed up the points ladder with a comfortable victory over SKN Patriots in the match 18th of the CPL 2024.
Barbados Royals won the toss and elected to bowl first, and that decision paid off as Barbados Royals’ bowlers dismissed the top-order batters early in the powerplay. Naveen-ul-Haq got the first breakthrough as he dismissed Evin Lewis with a score of 6, and then Kyle Mayers fell to a full-toss delivery. The SKN Patriots batting lineup debacle started with the spell of Rahkeem Cornwall, who picked up the wicket of SKN Patriots’ skipper Andre Fletcher in his first over, and then he got the wicket of Mikyle Louis in the next delivery. Wickets kept falling as Cornwall got his fifer in the match. SKN Patriots were bowled out for 110 in 19.1 overs.
The target to chase for the home team was 111 in 20 overs, but the Barbados Royals’ openers looked in a hurry to finish the match as early as possible. Quinton de Kock and Kadeem Alleyne started the chase, and both were taking on bowlers. Kadeem Alleyne got out after scoring 25 runs, but Quinton de Kock kept going and scored his fifty. Barbados Royals won the match by 9 wickets to get their 5th win in the league.

CPL 2024, Match 18: SKN Patriots vs BR| Captains’ Corner
“Honestly there’s no emotion. The way things have bene since the start of the tournament, we were hoping for things to get better, but unfortunately things have just been getting worse. We have to find a way to win. When you keep losing it is quite difficult, but you have to find the inner motivation as a player. We do go through bad patches but how to get out of it is a challenge. I have to do some soul searching, all the players have to do.”
Andre Fletcher(SKN Patriots Captain) said post-match
It’s a very good home leg. Three wins out of four at home, we’ll definitely take that. Crowd fantastic and we’ve played some good cricket. We came here with some form. We played some good cricket in all four games. We’re right up there with the better teams of the competition. (Cornwall today…) I think his primary role is to bat to be honest. When things like this happen, it shocks not just us but also our opponent. It’s good for him to give a five-star performance.
