TKR vs SLK: SLK thrashed Trinbago Knight Riders to win the match by 80 runs.
TKR won the toss and elected to bat first. SLK’s skipper Faf du Plessis and Johnson Charles started the innings for St Lucia Kings, and they provided the start their team needed; both batters launched attacks from both ends and didn’t let any bowler settle. They had a partnership of 151 runs for the first wicket, but in the 12th over, while trying to go over the long-off, Johnson Charles got caught by Chris Jordan. After the first wicket, Faf du Plessis partnership with Tim Seifert for a brief, faf got out after scoring 59 runs, and other batters chipped in to take the team’s total to 218/6 at the end of 20 overs.
Chasing the massive total of 218 runs, TKR’s start wasn’t good as Keacy Carty got out in the second over. Jason Roy held his end for some time and scored runs for his team, but wickets kept falling from the other end. Under 50 runs, Trinbago Knight Riders lost half of their team; while trying to be aggressive, Andre Russell fell into the trap of Noor Ahmad, who picked up his wicket. Chris Jordan fought for a brief and scored 27 runs, but SLK’s bowlers were good enough to bowl out TKR for 138 runs in 17.5 overs to win the match by 80 runs.

What a great game. You have to do a lot of things right (to beat a team like that). Charles was excellent – the way he put the spinners under pressure. He is playing his best cricket and long may it continue. He has gone back and worked on some shots. In the past, people would bowl lot of left-arm spin to him. That switch hit is Kevin Pietersen-like and he is becoming really difficult to bowl to. Perfect example of someone still growing his game. We have had three day games in a row, so it has been a physical and mental battle. We are really driven as a group and we want to get ourselves in the top two. One more game left, and we will try to put the foot on the gas and do the right things

We are obviously not sure but it looked pretty serious. We are not sure if it is going to be the end for him and we just want to thank him for all that he has done for cricket. Charismatic person and he has been inspiring throughout. He is not a good space right now but he has given everything to cricket, and cricket has rewarded him. (On his bowling and the bowling attack) With DJ going down, with Russell not 100% fit and Narine not there, I had to manage it. It was a good shift for me (with the ball). From a bowling perspective, we have a bit of work to do. (On captaining this side) It is wonderful. The quality of players we have, we have given them different roles and responsibilities. I am at that stage (of my career) where I am just enjoying my cricket, entertaining the crowd.
