South Africa vs India, 2nd T20I: South Africa’s Tristan Stubbs held his nerves to take his team to a 3-wicket win against India in the second T20I of the four-match series.
After winning the toss, South Africa’s skipper Aiden Markram chose to bowl first as Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma opened the innings for India. South Africa’s Marco Jansen was quick to strike and picked Sanju Samson’s wicket in the match’s first over. Soon, Abhishek Sharma and skipper Suryakumar Yadav got out as India were 3 down for 15. Axar Patel and Tilak Varma batted cautiously afterward and slowly started building a valuable partnership, but David Miller caught a stunner to dismiss Tilak Varma. It was Hardik Pandya who showed resistance and held his ground till the end of 20 overs to take his team to the score of 124/6.
Chasing 125, South Africa’s start was decent as openers Ryan Rickelton and Reeza Hendricks batted cautiously. However, Arshdeep Singh got Ryan Rickelton in the third over. Varun Chakravarthy sent skipper Markram in his first over and then Hendricks in the next as South Africa’s batters looked clueless in front of the spinner. Varun Chakravarthy picked a fifer in his four-over spell as India was looking strong, but the right-handed Tristan Stubbs didn’t let the game slip away and held his crease. It was in the 19th over that he hit a boundary to win the game for his team.

South Africa vs India, 2nd T20I: Captains’ Corner
We bowled really well, ultimately it comes down to execution and we executed really well. Wanna keep taking the game on, sometimes when we lose wickets in a cluster, it doesn’t look pretty. I’m fine, so far so good [when asked about the concussion and on-field bruise]. Good to see the fire in the belly of the youngsters.”
Aiden Markram(South Africa Captain) said post-match
Of course in a T20 game you don’t wanna get 120, but proud of the way we bowled. In a T20, someone getting a five-for defending 125 is incredible. Varun has been waiting for this for a long time, working hard on his bowling, and everyone enjoyed it. Two games to go, lot of entertainment left. 1-1 going into Jo’burg gonna be a lot of fun.”
