Taking 10 wickets in a test match is very rare, but many legendary bowlers can do it repeatedly, which is why they are one of the greats of this game. We are going to list down the 10 bowlers who took 10 wicket hauls in the test match.
The test format is one of the hardest in cricket, amongst the other two, which are ODI or T20I. The game goes on for five days, during which the bowlers mostly get a chance to take wickets in two innings. However, keeping on bowling over 20+ overs makes it hard for the bowlers to pick the perfect line.
Top 10 Bowlers Who Took 10 Wicket Hauls
The table shows 10 bowlers, including their playing span, matches played, innings, wickets, average, economy, strike rate, and number of 10 wicket hauls.

Muthiah Murlidaran: 22 Ten Wicket Hauls
Muthiah Murlidaran is the legendary spinner from Sri Lanka who took 800 wickets in just 230 innings in test matches. He has also taken 10 wicket hauls 22 times, which just can’t be matched by any player. He set a record that seems can’t be broken, just like Sachin Tendulkar’s records, because now the timeline of every player has shortened, and no one can play the game for more than 19 years, and that is to the bowler who has the hardest job as the cricketers.
Ravichandran Ashwin: 8 Ten Wicket Hauls
Ashwin is notably India’s greatest spinner in test matches and also one of the greatest in the world. He took over 536 wickets in just 199 innings and has been the match-winner for the Indian team in many matches.
Sir Richard Hadlee: 9 Ten Wicket Hauls
He is the only fast bowler in the top five with the most 10 wicket hauls, and he is the all-time greatest right-arm fast bowler of New Zealand.
Hadlee followed his family’s hereditary path in cricket, as his two brothers, wife, and father all played for New Zealand international cricket, but he is the greatest of them all, too.
