UFC 315 brought one of the biggest upsets of this year, not in terms of underdog(Jack Della Maddalena) winning the main event against Belal Muhammad to become the UFC Welterweight champion, but the super fight between Islam Makhachev and Ilia Topuria won’t be happening this year due to the results of UFC 315. Ilia Topuria vacated his featherweight title to move up in lightweight to challenge Islam Makhachev. There was a lot of back-and-forth on social media between these two, and fans were equally excited to see them in the octagon. Unfortunately, fans have to wait to see that super fight.
Islam Makhachev’s wrestling is what everyone fear and Belal Muhammad also trained under the former UFC lightweight champ Khabib Nurmagomedov but at UFC 315 Jack Della Maddalena showed to the world how to counter that pressure and out-strike a good grappler. The Australian countered Belal’s wrestling with his aggressive striking and great take down defense, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu coach Craig Jones was one of the veteran in the fight camp of the new Welterweight champ and he didn’t hold himself to mock the Dagestani wrestling after the Australian’s title victory.
Craig Jones in his recent Instagram post wrote this.

The Jiu-Jitsu coach said much trash before the JDM’s first title defense. As Islam Makhachev has already tweeted that he is coming for the second belt, it will be exciting to see how it will play out and whether the UFC will allow Islam Makhachev to become a double champ, as he has denied vacating the lightweight title. Well, it’s up to the UFC to decide what it plans for the next big fight.
