LAKR vs SFU: LA Knight Riders defeated San Francisco Unicorns by 11 runs to register its 2nd victory in the MLC 2025.
SFU won the toss and invited LAKR to bat first. Andre Fletcher and Alex Hales opened the innings for LAKR. Both batters lit up the arena with their aggressive batting. Alex Hales took only 24 balls to score his fifty. Hales got out after scoring 58 runs, and then came Sherfane Rutherford, who continued the good work. Rain interrupted the match, and after the break, Andre Fletcher launched an attack from his end to score his first MLC hundred. In the 19 overs, LAKR put 243 runs on the board.
Chasing the target, San Francisco Unicorns’ start wasn’t good as they lost skipper Matthew Short and opener Finn Allen early in the chase. Jake Fraser-McGurk got on a duck. Sanjay Krishnamurthi and Hassan Khan took the innings from there and started scoring runs aggressively. It was the partnership between these two that gave SFU the hope to chase the target. Hassan Khan got out after scoring 37 runs. Sanjay Krishnamurthi continued scoring runs and scored 90 runs for his team, but after his fall, no batter could do significant damage, and LAKR won the game by 11 runs.

MLC, 2025, Match 30th: LAKR vs SFU| Captains’ Corner
It feels good to get over the line, too close an encounter but pleased to get the win. The way we batted was excellent, Fletch (Fletcher) with his hundred was brilliant and we had a good opening partnership. We created quite a number of chances but put them down, that has been a headache for us throughout the season. There are so many positives, we have done great things but we haven’t quite pulled it together. Our batting has been up and down, we haven’t gelled as a unit on a particular day. We have had close games but couldn’t close it out. It’s a case for us to learn a bit more and adapt and come back stronger next season.
Jason Holder(LAKR Captain) said post-match
It was good to see our middle-order step up, pleased to see the local guys stepping up. Our bowling was off the mark today, too many freebies. Looking at the games we lost, our batting has been getting the job done but our bowling has cost us two games. Our thoughts with Romario, he has injured his ankle, looks bad and Haris is also injured, that’s unfortunate. We are looking forward to getting a new-look team for the playoffs.
