The future looks bright for women’s cricket, with the International Cricket Council (ICC) launching a third edition of its 100% Cricket Future Leaders programme. This mentorship scheme is designed to support emerging female talent in cricket and increase the number of women in leadership roles in the sport. Over a six-month period, 20 talented women from ICC Member nations will be paired with senior leaders to receive insights and support needed to help them develop their skills. This is part of the wider strategy set by the ICC to boost women’s involvement in cricket, both on and off the field. With initiatives like this, we may soon see many more success stories from female leaders in cricket around the world.

The ICC General Manager of Marketing and Communications, Claire Furlong radiates enthusiasm when speaking of the 100% Cricket Future Leaders Programme. Now entering its third edition, the program has provided support to 40 women from over two dozen countries with help from admirable mentors to help these women become future leaders. Excitingly, this program created a strong community amongst these women that reaches past the duration of the program in a way that will ensure their long-term success as they further develop their already impressive careers. It’s clear that this initiative by the International Cricket Council is making significant strides towards creating an atmosphere of equity and inclusion in the sport.

The 100% Cricket Future Leaders Programme is an exciting new initiative that seeks to empower and equip female cricketers with the skills they require to reach their potential in the cricketing world. A key element of the programme is pairing participants with a mentor – an experienced figure within the world of cricket who can provide them with advice, guidance and valuable connections. This year’s programme will see ICC members providing support for leading female players on their journey to success, through providing guidelines and frameworks for evaluation as well as making sure there are plenty of networking opportunities available. The selection process for the upcoming mentee program is intended to ensure the best match between applicants and mentors for maximum growth and career advancement. A carefully selected panel of experts consisting of ICC personnel and independent representatives will review all applications to determine which fits best with the mentor’s projected outcomes and career aspirations. The chosen applicants, who are due to be announced on April 19, 2023, will ultimately benefit from this intensive program by gaining exposure to industry-leading expertise not available anywhere else. We hope that these new relationships built through the program can serve as catalysts for future success.

Applying for the ICC opportunity is an idea to consider for those with big dreams in the cricketing world. To apply all participants must meet the eligibility criteria, including working or studying within the domain of cricket such as junior to middle management positions of any ICC Member or ICC. The application process begins March 8 and ends on March 29, 2023 and provides aspiring leaders a platform to showcase their talent while networking and experiencing development opportunities.
