The Indian Cricket team has suffered a major setback with Jasprit Bumrah‘s recent successful surgery in NewZealand. The world renowned bowler has been absent from the squad in the last few months and his recovery is expected to involve 6 months of rehabilitation and conditioning sessions. This limited time frames gives the player a very tight schedule ahead of the ICC World Cup, which raises questions about how much he will contribute to India’s performance at the tournament. However, everyone remains positive about his returning to full fitness and playing an important role for the team in their battle for the glory of winning the cup.
Jasprit Bumrah, the top Indian pacer is currently on his road to making a full recovery. According to reports, he was operated by Dr Rowan Schouten for a hernia, at the Forte Orthopaedics Hospital in Christchurch. The BCCI has not explicitly given any statements but medical statements from the treatment facility suggest that the procedure went successful and may take at least 3 weeks of rehabilitation before a comprehensive check-up takes place.
Based on the medical record of international cricketers who have recently gone through surgery conducted by Dr Rowan Schouten – James Pattinson, Jason Behrendorff and Jofra Archer – people can rely on their experience and hope for a quick comeback for Bumrah with minimal complications during and after his rehab process.
Reports have suggested that Kiwi pacer Shane Bond recommended the BCCI to hire Rowan Schouten for the surgery of Jasprit Bumrah. It has been confirmed that post the surgery, 6 months is required for a proper recovery process. This means that Bumrah might be back in practice by August, which will still leave him enough time to prepare for the ICC World Cup hangning overhead. Regrettably though, if we take into consideration the timeline, he won’t be available for duty in Asia Cup taking place in September. Given how significant his contributions were for India’s triumph in last year’s Champions Trophy and how effective he can be in crunch situations, any loss of form due to extended injury period could prove to be a loss for India if they want to emulate their achievements from earlier this summer.
With the ICC World Cup 2023 on the horizon, India’s biggest hope is the recovery of their star bowler, Jasprit Bumrah. He has been out of action for months now with an injury, and his return to full fitness is critical if India are to challenge for cricket’s highest honor yet again. Much depends on Bumrah regaining form and dexterity by October-November when the tournament begins in his own backyard. Though his participation is not certain as of yet, there’s a general hope that everything goes according to plan, and Team India can take to the field with one of its most respected players as part of their lineup. It would be a pity if he misses out because of bad timing or circumstance beyond anyone’s control.
