Satwik’s unfortunate injury has proven to be a major setback for him and his partner, Chirag Shetty. The Indian badminton duo had achieved great success over the past year, winning titles such as the Thailand Open and French Open. While the players are back together now, they do not have much time to get back into their pre-injury form before major tournaments like the All England Open or Yonex Japan Open later this year. Despite the obstacle this injury has presented, Satwik and Shetty are determined to return better than ever and will be working hard to reclaim their throne as reigning champions in international badminton.
Chirag Shetty, the World No. 6 men’s doubles badminton player, experienced an unfortunate setback when his partner Satwik during the Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championships in Dubai last month. Despite the loss due to Satwik’s injury, Chirag performed admirably with a new partner Dhruv Kapila and nearly clinched a win against China. The pair had made history last year at the All England Championship by becoming the first Indian men’s doubles combination to reach semi-finals. We can only hope that with time, Chirag and Satwik make even more incredible feats!
After a difficult few months, Satwik can finally celebrate the return to his usual training regime now that he is fully recovered from his injury. With help from Indian doubles specialist coach Mathias Boe and rigorous practice every day, Satwik is certainly putting in the work to reach his maximum potential. Although Satwik and Chirag had to miss the Thailand Open after the India Open, their ranking still sits at the respectable No. 6 in the world. From here on, it’s sure to be an exciting journey for them as they continue to brush up their skills and jump up that ranking ladder together.
Satwik’s suffered an unfortunate injury as he was hoping to repeat his winning performance from the India Open of last year and make the home crowd proud. His recovery in Hyderabad paid off and he is now ready to take on the busy international season ahead. After reaching the semi-finals of All England 2022, Satwik has set himself a high target and his father expressed his hopes that his son will do even better this time around. During their success spree the previous year, teammates Satwik and Chirag made history by winning India’s first Thomas Cup title as well as two world tour titles and a gold in Commonwealth Games. It remains to be seen if they can replicate or even exceed that feat this time around.
