It’s time to kick off India’s biggest showcase of women’s football talent as the Senior Women’s National Football Championship 2022-23 gets underway. With 32 teams vying for the top prize, this year’s edition promises to be yet another exhilarating display of competitive football. Starting with the qualifying round, 31 teams will compete in six groups to win a spot in the main event. Only the top teams will get through, and with such high stakes, we can expect some top-notch performances from India’s finest female footballers. Football fans and enthusiasts, get ready for an action-packed tournament as the Indian states battle it out for the top spot. The competition is divided into six groups, each with their own unique set of teams. Group I includes Punjab, Telangana, Sikkim, and Haryana, and they will be competing at the Guru Nanak Dev University Sports Complex in Amritsar, Punjab. Meanwhile, Group II will be playing at the IGIS Complex in Haldwani/Rudrapur, Uttarakhand, featuring teams from Uttarakhand, Chandigarh, Pondicherry, Kerala, Maharashtra, and Mizoram. Group III will be held in South Goa, Goa, where teams from Goa, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Tripura, Andhra Pradesh, and Odisha will battle it out in Navelim and Benaulim. The Pant Stadium in Bhilai, Chhattisgarh, will host Group IV, consisting of teams from Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Ladakh, Delhi, Jammu & Kashmir, and Madhya Pradesh. Group V will be played out in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, where teams from Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Bengal, and Andhra Pradesh will compete at the Sports Ground, Hindustan College of Science and Technology. Finally, Group VI featuring Karnataka, Bihar, Manipur, Gujarat, and Assam, will play at the Bangalore Football Stadium, Bengaluru, Karnataka. Who will come out on top? Only time will tell.
