Delhi Capitals (DC) have intentionally retained four core players for the upcoming IPL 2025 season. These are Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Tristan Stubbs, and Abhishek Porel.
The players will look forward to becoming a solid group on the team. However, the release of their erstwhile captain, Rishabh Pant, along with other crucial players, has revealed several fragile areas that DC must focus on before the auction.
Delhi Capital’s Weak Spots:
Wicketkeeping: His departure does make a sizeable hole in the department. Retaining Abhishek Porel has been a wise move, but yet to be tried and tested at the highest level of experience and batting.
Middle-Order Stability and Finishing Power: No set power hitter in the middle order could accelerate to finish the innings. Stubbs’s non-performance last season is a big pointer that finishing power is awaited from an experienced finisher.
Other than Prithvi Shaw, another trusted opening batsman must be needed to produce excellent platform positions.
The all-rounder fraction needs to be enriched so the team can cope with injury cases and batting slumps.

- Azmatullah Omarzai: This all-rounder can add value by batting in the middle order and bowling in crucial overs.
- Noor Ahmed: His mystery spin can be a great addition to partner with Kuldeep Yadav in the middle overs.
- Ashutosh Sharma: An explosive lower-order batsman, Sharma can provide the finishing punch along with Axar Patel, a middle-order hitting concern.
- Jos Buttler: He will be another interesting target for Delhi Capitals, which is looking for someone who can do captaincy and wicket-keeping to replace Rishabh Pant completely. He can solve three problems at once for Delhi Capitals.
- Venkatesh Iyer: He can solve the opening slot problem for Delhi Capitals and also can bat in the middle order.
