BCCI announced India’s Test and ODI squad for WI tour- Pujara and Umesh Yadav dropped.

BCCI announced India’s squad for the upcoming tour of the West Indies. Some big names like Cheteshwar Pujara and Umesh Yadav will not be a part of the team this time, and youngster like Yashasvi Jaiswal got the chance to be in the team for the ODIs and Test series. Navdeep Saini also got back in the team. This time, selectors excluded the out-of-form batter Cheteshwar Pujara and the right-arm bowler Umesh Yadav. Both failed to leave an impact in the WTC final, and that might be the reason for their exclusion from the team. Mohammed Shami was given some time off and will not be seen in action in the ODIs and Test series, whereas pacers like Jaydev Unadkat, Mohammed Siraj, and Mukesh Kumar are included in the team both for the ODIs and Test series.

Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ajinkya Rahane were included in the team. The former was included in the team list for the WTC final, but due to his marriage, he was later replaced by the left-handed batter Yashasvi Jaiswal as a backup opener. Ajinkya Rahane was a surprise selection in the WTC final squad, and maybe it was because of the batter’s performance in the IPL that he got the opportunity to play in the WTC final, and this time he will be the vice captain of the team. For the ODI squad, selectors gave a chance to pacer Umran Malik, who had a bleak IPL season this time. Ishan Kishan, who was on the players list for the WTC final, didn’t get to play, but this time he may be seen behind the wicket, marking his debut in test cricket.

Here is the detailed list of the players selected by the BCCI that are in the India’s squad.
