ABF vs BR: In a rain interrupted match Barbados Royals defeated Antigua & Barbados Falcons to claim their third consecutive win in the Caribbean Premier League.
After winning the toss, Barbados Royals’ captain, Rovman Powell, chose to bowl first. Brandon King and Justin Greaves started the innings for their team; the start was decent as both batters scored runs and took their team beyond 50 runs, but just after the powerplay, Brandon King was dismissed by Maharaj as ABF lost their first wicket. Sam Billings and Justin Greaves had a great partnership after the first wicket as both scored their fifties. Justin Greaves remained not out on 61 runs. Some contributions from the other batters took the total to 176/5 at the end of 20 overs.
Chasing the target, Barbados Royals’ start wasn’t good as Rahkeem Cornwall got out on a duck, but wicket-keeper batter Quinton de Kock and Alick Athanaze built the partnership after that for the second wicket and kept playing. Both Left-handers took the score to 74 till the collapse happened between the batters while taking a run. Sam Billings was quick to hit the wickets, and Alick Athanaze got run out. Barbados Royals were running ahead of the DLS score, and that’s what helped them when rain stopped the play in the middle of the 15th over. Based on the DLS method, the Barbados Royals were given a victory by 10 runs.
