AW vs TKR: Trinbago Knight Riders crushed Amazon Warriors in the match 30 of the Caribbean Premier League to win it by 74 runs. Even after the loss Amazon Warriors finished on the top of the table due to their high Net Run Rate.
TKR captain Kieron Pollard, after winning the toss, chose to bat first, and opposition captain Imran Tahir was straight to business and dismissed Shaqkere Parris in the first over of the match on a duck, but Nicholas Pooran didn’t let the opposition celebrate for long and started playing his game. The left-hand batter got the support of opener Jason Roy, and the two had a partnership of 153 runs, where Pooran contributed with his century, and Roy scored 34 runs. Shamar Joseph picked up the wicket of Jason Roy, and the bowler tried to reverse the damage later in the match, but Nicholas Pooran already did what he wanted to; Keacy Carty scored some runs down the order as TKR finished with 211/5 at the end of 20 overs.
Chasing the target of 212 runs, Guyana Amazon Warrior’s start wasn’t good as opener Kevlon Anderson got out early. Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Shai Hope briefly stabilized the innings and scored runs from both ends. It was Akiel Hosein who picked up the wicket of Shai Hope and broke the partnership, and from there, the batting order of Amazon Warriors collapsed as no batter could score significant runs for his team. In 18.5 overs, Amazon Warriors was bowled out on the score of 137 runs, winning the match by 74 runs.

CPL 2024, Match 30: AW vs TKR| Captains’ Corner
It was a good game of cricket, the way Nicholas batted and Jason batted, that is the template we want to play. We set out to win a cricket match and that’s what happened. [on Bryan Charles’ drops] These things happen in cricket and no-one means to drop catches, it’s not about Bryan Charles, overall we have dropped catches, last game we dropped David Miller although we got him out later, we have to look at this. In quality tournaments like this we have to be better than this. We are the team who have not played here, but that’s not a complaint or an excuse, we understand the scheduling. We wanted to get into the top-two, but I believe in destiny, certain things are meant to be and certain things are not meant to be, maybe this is our destiny.
Kieron Pollard(TKR Captain) said post-match
It’s belief and fight. We were a bit soft in the middle and we did not start well with the ball, but the positive we take is the bravery and we finished top which we wanted. I truly believe we deserved it, we are playing really well, if we lose today, I would have pulled my hair. Looking forward to the playoffs. [on bowling five seam options in the powerplay] We are a team who look to do different things, we wanted to do this. Pooran played a special innings, we were a little soft, we have to be harder, look to improve and come back stronger
