New Zealand’s annual cricket awards took place in Auckland on Thursday (March 23), and Daryl Mitchell and Melie Kerr were the standout winners. Mitchell, who had a prolific year in Tests with four centuries and a rise to No. 8 in the World Test batting rankings, received the Sir Richard Hadlee Medal for being the outstanding men’s cricketer of the year as well as the Redpath Cup for men’s first-class batting. Meanwhile, Kerr was awarded the inaugural Debbie Hockley Medal for being the outstanding women’s cricketer.
