Major league Cricket: Devon Conway shines as TSK beat MI New York by 17 runs.

After having a magnificent IPL 2023 season with the Chennai Super Kings, left-handed opener Devon Conway has lightened the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas as his team, Texas Super Kings, won the match by 17 runs against MI New York. Devon Conway, while opening for his team, scored 74 runs on 55 balls as the team yellow gave a target of 155 runs to MI New York, and while chasing the total, MI New York managed to score only 137 runs. Faf Du Plessis, after leading RCB in the IPL 2023, is now captaining the Texas Super Kings in the yellow jersey. This was the second win of the TSK in the inaugural Major League Cricket season, and they are leading the Points table as of now.

The Texas Super Kings have won two of their three matches in the league so far, and this time both batters and bowlers played their best to restrict MI. At 137 runs, Devon Conway hit 8 fours and 1 six in his 74-run innings, and later TSK’s bowlers did the rest of the job. Daniel Sams and Mohammad Mohsin picked up two wickets each, while Rusty Theron, Dwayne Bravo, and Zia-ul-Haq scalped one wicket each. TSK’s next match will be against the Seattle Orcas on July 22 at Church Street Park in Morrisville.

“It was a slight challenge up front, felt like that the ball was not coming on in the powerplay. Myself and Faf decided to take our time and then set a platform for later on. We have a blueprint on how to go about things. The wind was going down-breeze and the plan was to hit with that. The crowd was great.”

“Coming up against Tim, know about him coming from Australia. After we got him, it was a bit of relief. It was one of those wickets, if you have runs on the board, you can defend it. The way we started with the ball, it kinda got us in front of the game. The crowd has been fantastic. Hopefully in Morrisville it’s the same. (On bowling with Bravo) It’s awesome playing with someone like him. Already had few good conversations with him. Good to be on the same team and not face him.”
