Did Gautam Gambhir drop Ruturaj Gaikwad from the squad because of CSK and Dhoni’s Relations?

Ruturaj Gaikwad Dropped From T20I squad

Gautam Gambhir’s bold decisions and Cricket headlines go hand in hand, and once again, it was proven after Ruturaj Gaikwad was Axed from the Indian squad even after showing great performance in the Zimbabwe series.

CSK fans and many Indian fans are furious about the BCCI’s decision to drop Gaikwad from India’s T20I squad for the Sri Lanka series and also Abhishek Sharma, who scored a century in the second match.

Why was Ruturaj Gaikwad, the best batting performer of the last series, dropped from the squad by BCCI and Gambhir?

The BCCI management and the new Indian coach, Gautam Gambhir, need to give a reasonable answer for dropping Ruturaj Gaikwad because, in the 4 matches he played in the Zimbabwe series, he scored 133 runs in 3 innings with an average of 66.50 and a strike rate of 158.33, which shows that he was the best player.

Many fans and even pundits say that Gambhir dropped Ruturaj because he is CSK captain and close to Dhoni, and the image Gambhir has in media is that he hates Dhoni as most the fans think Dhoni was the one who won the World Cup for India in 2007 and 2011, which is not the right part because everyone on the team contributed, especially Yuvraj Singh and Gautam Gambhir.

The actual reason for dropping Ruturaj could be that India wishes to go with Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal as the openers. Abhishek Sharma and Ruturaj Gaikwad are also the best-suited openers, which can be the main reason why the management decided to drop them. Still, another question arises: they have kept both the players in the reserve or the bench, so if needed, they could replace any one of them with Gill and Jaiswal.

Comparison of Shubman Gill, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Abhisehak Sharma, And Yashasvi Jaiswal in T20I Format

Note: We are not putting Abhishek Sharma’s name in it because he played only 5 matches.

Ruturaj Gaikwad232063339.56143.534/1
Yashasvi Jaiswal201964337.82162.785/1

Shubman Gill performed the weakest among these three players, who played around the same number of innings. Gill is more suitable in the ODI format rather than the T20I, which is why Ruturaj Gaikwad should be the first-choice opener instead of Shubman Gill. Gill is also not suited as the captain of the team because his decision-making was the worst in the Zimbabwe tour.

What is your opinion on this comment Down? Which pair do you want to see as the Indian openers?
