“When you’re not scoring runs…” England’s Former Captain Big Take On Jonny Bairstow

England's former captain, Alastair Cook, urged England's team to drop Jonny Bairstow from the team for the fourth test.

England’s batter, Jonny Bairstow, has had an abysmal run so far in the India vs. England test series, as the right-handed batter scored just 102 runs in the six innings he played in the series. Indian bowlers have been too good for the England batters in the second and third test matches of the series. In the last match, India bowled out England for 122 runs, winning the match by a huge margin of 434 runs. England’s batter, Jonny Bairstow, is getting a lot of heat for his poor performance; even former England’s captain, Alastair Cook, urged England to drop the wicketkeeper batter from the team for the Ranchi test.

Alastair Cook clarified himself by saying that he just wanted to protect England’s batter as the India series is not going well for him. Alastair Cook backs Dan Lawrence to replace Jonny Bairstow as the Indian conditions are getting more difficult for the batter to bat on. He wants someone fresh to bat on the Indian pitches.

“I’m taking him out of the firing line to protect the player, as I think he’s had a tough tour so far and India is a tough place to keep going on the treadmill. “I’m not saying he’ll never play Test cricket again, but it’s good to have someone who’s fresh of all the debris of this series so far. “When you’re not scoring runs, there’s a build-up of pressure and momentum from certain bowlers on you, so I’d let Dan Lawrence have a go.

India and England are going to Ranchi, Jharkhand, for the fourth test of the series, with India leading the series 2-1 so far. It would be a do-or-die for England to be in the series, and India will be looking to carry on the momentum in Ranchi as well. The fourth test will start on February 23.
