The venue of the Asia Cup 2023, even after the tournament has started, is still a topic of hot debate, as former Pakistan cricket board chief Najam Sethi is not willing to move on from the fact that ACC chose Sri Lanka as the co-host of the Asia Cup 2023 alongside Pakistan, despite his efforts to push ACC to choose UAE as the co-host, but ultimately his efforts went in vain, and Sri Lanka got the opportunity to host nine matches of the tournament and Pakistan got four. However, the decision to let Sri Lanka host the matches resulted in match stoppages or delays. The last time India and Pakistan faced each other, the play was called off due to incessant rain, and this time as well, when India is going to face Pakistan for the second time in the tournament, the weather forecast is spoiling the hopes.

Najam Sethi didn’t skip the chance to criticise the BCCI and ACC’s decision to change the India vs. Pakistan venue from Colombo to Hambantota for their 10th September Super 4 match, posting on X Najam Sethi wrote:

“BCCI/ACC informed PCB today that they had decided to shift next India-Pak match from Colombo to Hambantota because of rain forecasts. Within one hour they changed their mind and announced Colombo as the venue. What’s going on? Is India afraid to play and lose to Pakistan Look at the rain forecast!”

Former Indian player Harhajan Singh didn’t take that comment lightly and gave a reality check to Najam Sethi on his remarks of “India is afraid to play Pakistan”.

“Don’t know what Najam Sethi is smoking nowadays. I don’t know how is he saying that they were the favourites or India does not want to play Pakistan, Please someone give him the whole record where India have beaten them more number of times whenever they have played against each other. This is baseless kind of a thing for him, with the kind of stature that he holds at this moment for Pakistan cricket”

Harbhajan Singh on Sports Today

Whether the weather forecast was right or not. Boss, come and play us wherever you want, we will beat you.”
