The former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh had an illustrious career with the cricket ball. He had been a crucial part of India’s victories in big ICC tournaments. Also, he served multiple franchises in the IPL, though the memories of such a great career brought a lot of happiness to his face, there is one moment or incident that he regrets the most still and that was the incident when he slapped former Indian team player S Sreesanth during an IPL match in the inaugural edition of the tournament after the infamous incident the spinner was banned for the rest of the season.

In a recent conversation with veteran Ravichandran Ashwin on Kutti stories with Ash, Harbhajan Singh opened his heart and revealed what he regrets the most in his life.

“One thing I’d want to change in my life is that incident with Sreesanth. I want to remove that incident from my career. That is the incident I would change from my list. What transpired was wrong and I shouldn’t have done what I did. I apologized 200 times. What I felt so bad was even years after that incident, I have been apologizing every opportunity or stage I get. It was a mistake,”

Harbhajan Singh further said that he had a conversation with Sreesanth’s daughter after the incident, which is what shattered him from the inside and almost made him cry. Here’s what he said

“What hurt me even after many years was when I met his daughter and I was talking to her with a lot of love and she said, ‘I don’t want to talk to you. You hit my father.’ My heart was shattered and I was on the verge of tears. I was asking myself what is the impression I’ve left on her? She must be thinking of me in a poor light, right? She sees me as the guy who hit her father. I felt so bad. I still apologise to his daughter that I can’t do anything,”

He added

Both players buried the hatchet years after the incident and went on to play for India in the 2011 World Cup. After their retirement, they have been part of many leagues.
