IND vs ENG, 4th Test, Day 5: Shubman Gill, KL Rahul, Washington Sundar, Ravindra Jadeja’s Resilience Saved Manchester Test

IND vs ENG: India showed remarkable resilience on Day 4 of the Manchester test with KL Rahul and skipper Shubman Gill batting flawlessly to overcome the early shocks given by the England bowlers as two left-handers of the Indian side got out on a duck. Shubman Gill and KL Rahul batted till the end of the day to take India to a score of 174 runs.

From the first delivery of the match, India’s intent was clear. Neither right-hander took a risk and slowly increased India’s score. A sharp inward delivery bowled by Ben Stokes hit the pads of KL Rahul as he was sent back to the pavilion on 90 runs. Washington Sundar came to the crease, and meanwhile, Shubman Gill completed his 4th century of the test series. It was Jofra Archer who dismissed the batter to reignite England’s hopes to get a victory in the match and the next delivery England almost got another wicket as Ravindra Jadeja tried guiding a bouncer which landed into the hands of Joe Root at slips but the latter put it down and from there Washington Sundar and Ravindra Jadeja put on a show of resilience for the spectators.

Neither all-rounder gave the England bowlers much chance and started closing the trail gap. Both scored their fifties, and after the end of the 2nd session, they took India to the lead. Ravindra Jadeja looked in rhythm and started attacking the England bowlers as India took the lead. Meanwhile, Washington Sundar reached his hundred, and it was in the final session of Day 5 that both all-rounders scored their tons. It was Washington Sundar’s maiden ton in test cricket as the match ended in a draw.

India is 1-2 in the series, and it will be exciting to see what India will do in the final test match of the series.
