India vs New Zealand 1st Test: Rain Washed Out 1st Day Play

The India vs New Zealand test series opener at Bengaluru got an unfortunate start as Day 1 of the first test match was called off without a ball being bowled due to the incessant rain. The officials will look at the venue conditions tomorrow, as the toss is scheduled for 9:30 AM(IST) on Thursday. As per the latest weather predictions, the rain won’t stop tomorrow, and there is a possibility of tomorrow’s match being called off as well.

India is currently at the top of the World Test Championship rankings after defeating Bangladesh by 2-0, Rohit Sharma and co. Will be eyeing to maintain the top spot till the beginning of the Border Gavaskar Trophy. On the other hand, inaugural World Test Championship winner New Zealand is at the sixth spot with only 3 wins in the eight test matches. Their last one-off test match against Afghanistan was also called off due to incessant rain, and now the first test against India started with the same story.

The second test match between them will start on October 24, and the third is scheduled for November 1.
